A charming vegetarian restaurant with a small canalside terrace with a handful of tables surrounded by greenery. 100% organic ingredients are used where possible and meals are delicious enough to appease even the most carnivorous of palates. Wash it all down with organic wine and definitely leave room for the mouth-watering desserts.
A quirky restaurant within one of Amsterdam's alternative cultural centres, OT301, and open Thursday, Friday and Sunday evenings. All food is organic vegetarian and supplied by local farmers. It's also very cheap – you can pay what you can afford: from €6-10 for the set main course and €1.50 extra if you want dessert. They also have organic beer, wine and even Retsina! Phone between 4pm-6.30pm on the day to reserve. Note that in July and August, they usually shut. Check the website (also too for the events they hold here from feminist and political debates to queer nights).
Enormously popular with the artistic and alternative, "The Flying Saucer" dishes up cheap and hearty organic vegetarian/vegan fare in two bright, canteen-style rooms. Check the blackboard for the daily specials and place your order at the counter with the friendly staff. One caveat: there are healthy drinks aplenty but alcohol choices are limited.
Even the most hardened of carnivores won't be able to resist the delicious dishes at this modern vegetarian restaurant. Food at the 'Dare Devil' is created using organic produce – wherever possible – and each month, the menu focuses on a different country. Additionally, there's a charming garden in the back which is open in the summer months and they also serve locally-brewed organic beer and wine.
