Their bizarre, over-the-top cakes – replete with its icing-inspired colour scheme – make 'My Auntie's Cake' the campest tearoom in town. Rather unusually, you can also officially get married here! And above the shop is their B&B 'Cake Under Your Pillow'.

This bright café – hidden at the back of new age bookstore Himalaya – is an oasis from the Red Light District. Zen out with the chilled background music and a bevy of Buddhas whilst refuelling mind, body and spirit from the healthy selection of vegetarian offerings – 'tosties', homemade soup and pâté, seitan burgers and salads. Save plenty of room for the delicious desserts!
Hidden in a small residential street running parallel to the Vondelpark, this is one of the more unusual places to stop for a drink in town. The upstairs café of this Spanish riding stables overlooks the sand arena below where classes are held and offers a good - and inexpensive – selection of alcohol, coffee and tea.
