Located in the Pijp and formerly a bathhouse, this venue stages some very decent offerings from the thriving local music scene – with a focus on world music, jazz and improvised music. Additionally, it has a café attached and also holds regular art exhibitions.
Classical recitals are held within this private, plushly-restored concert hall on the upper floors of former 17th-century coffee and tobacco warehouses. Named after the famous Italian piano maker, Bartelomeo Cristofori, the repertoire regularly extends to tango and jazz. Or you can simply catch a beautiful piano recital.
Still retaining more than a semblance from its squatted days, this alternative music venue, stages a busy programme of hardcore punk, folk punk, electro punk, retro punk... pretty much anything punk, in fact. It's also where the infamous bi-monthly Spellbound queer parties are held and within this complex is the marvellous Sauna Fenomeen is located.
The two theatres at the city's Tropical Institute – in the east of town – regularly stages unique concerts of world music.
A great live music venue in the old centre (attached to the Winston Hotel) with an edgy programming of live music (and club nights).
